Archeops, Mapping the Cmb Sky from Large to Small Angular Scales

چکیده

Archeops is a balloon-borne experiment designed to measure the temperature fluctuations of the CMB on a large region of the sky (≃ 30%) with a high angular resolution (10 arcminutes) and a high sensitivity (60µK per pixel). Archeops will perform a measurement of the CMB anisotropies power spectrum from large angular scales (ℓ ≃ 30) to small angular scales (ℓ ≃ 800). Archeops flew for the first time for a test flight in July 1999 from Sicily to Spain and the first scientific flight took place from Sweden to Russia in January 2001. The data analysis is on its way and I present here preliminary results, realistic simulations showing the expected accuracy on the measurement of the power spectrum and perspectives for the incoming flights (Winter 2001/2003).

Archeops: CMB Anisotropies Measurement from Large to Small Angular Scale

Archeops, a balloon-borne experiment, will provide a measurement of CMB anistropies from large to small angular scale thanks to its large sky coverage (30%), its high angular resolution (10 arcminutes), and its high signal-to-noise ratio due to high sensitivity 100 mK cooled bolometers. We will therefore be able to put strong constraints on the value of the cosmological parameters. Archeops fle...

Archeops in-flight performance, data processing, and map making

Aims. Archeops is a balloon-borne experiment inspired by the Planck satellite and its high frequency instrument (HFI). It is designed to measure the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature anisotropies at high angular resolution (∼12 arcmin) over a large fraction of the sky (around 30%) at 143, 217, 353, and 545 GHz. The Archeops 353 GHz channel consists of three pairs of polarized sensit...

Testing Gaussianity on Archeops Data

Aims. A Gaussianity analysis using a goodness-of-fit test has been performed to study the measured Archeops Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature anisotropy data for a 143 GHz Archeops bolometer. We consider large angular scales, greater than 1.8 degrees, and a large fraction of the North Galactic hemisphere, around 16%, with a galactic latitude b > 15 degrees. Methods. The considered g...

THE COSMIC MICROWAVE BACKGROUND Archeops results

ARCHEOPS is a balloon–borne instrument dedicated to measuring cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature anisotropies at high angular resolution (∼ 12 arcmin.) over a large fraction (30%) of the sky in the (sub)millimetre domain (from 143 to 545 GHz). We describe the results obtained during the last flight: the ARCHEOPS estimate of the CMB angular power spectrum linking for the first time CO...

Archeops is a balloon–borne instrument dedicated to measuring cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature anisotropies at high angular resolution (∼ 8 arcminutes) over a large fraction (∼ 25%) of the sky in the millimetre domain. Based on Planck High Frequency Instrument (HFI) technology, cooled bolometers (0.1 K) scan the sky in total power mode with large circles at constant elevation. Duri...
